I'm Looking for Roseman graduates (Henderson) from either the traditional BSN or ABSN program that planning to/currently work in California as RNs. Wondering what your experiences were after graduation?
- Did you take the NCLEX in the Nevada or California?
- If applicable, are you planning to undergo license reciprocity?
- How was finding jobs as a new graduate of Roseman?
I know, it's difficult as a new grads from mostly anywhere to get their first real nursing job in California because they lack "experience."
Anyone can respond to this so I can gain more insight to what it's like to be a nursing grad... but it would be even better to talk to someone in a similar situation as mine.

A lot of people in my class took their NCLEX for the NV board and then applied for reciprocity in CA. I went ahead and applied straight for the CA board. Here's my advice: If you want your CA license ASAP, apply EARLY! A lot of people will advise that you get the NCLEX out of the way ASAP after graduating. If you decide to take the NCLEX for NV right after graduation and then endorse your NV license, it will still be another 12 weeks until you can get your CA license due to the slowness of the BRN. I graduated from the traditional BSN program in March & sent my application to the CA board in February, but in hindsight I really wish I would have applied even earlier - maybe November or December. I had to wait about 3 months after graduating to take the NCLEX, and the wait could have even been longer if I wasn't proactive about it. I have seen posts from from other out-of-state graduates who successfully got to take their NCLEX in CA within 1 month of graduating because they were on the ball and sent their application, fingerprints, and transcripts from their other schools 4-6 months in advance. Then all they need is to process your nursing school transcript once your degree is awarded and your ATT will be on its way.
As for the job hunt, I can say that there are a lot of new grad programs/RN I opportunities popping up in the LA area at least, but the majority of them require your CA license in hand to apply. If you decide to stay in Vegas, it is EXTREMELY easy for Roseman grads to get a hospital job. A really huge chunk of my class had jobs lined up within 2-3 months of graduating, I would say almost everyone that was from Vegas or chose to stay in Vegas are now employed. However, as a new grad you will probably have to sign a 2 year contract, so keep that in mind if you were thinking about getting a year's experience and then moving back.
Good luck in the program! Roseman was one of the hardest but most rewarding things I've ever experienced. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions about Roseman or anything else.

I was wondering if you could answer this for me. I recently got admitted to the ABSN program in Henderson and I would like to know what is the structure on exam days. How long are they typically? For the first block, we will be having an exam and an ATI after. What is the expected time length? I was just wondering because I have an appt scheduled for the first exam and I was wondering if I need to reschedule it. Thanks in advance
Sorry, I'm not sure how ABSN assessment days are structured. If it helps any, for traditional BSN assessment we would usually take the test (including individual, group test, and challenges) starting at 8am going until around 11-12 depending on test length. Then we would come back approximately 1-2 hours later to find out our results. On exam days we usually got out anywhere between 1 and 3 pm, longer if it is a harder and more "controversial" test (ie. teachers are deliberating longer on challenges).
For ATI exams we started at a certain time and leave whenever we were finished taking the exam online. I don't think we ever took an ATI right after an assessment though. I would probably reschedule your appointment.

Hi! I'm applying to Roseman University and the only thing preventing me from doing so is the GPA format. I know it's Pass/No Pass and it's not the typical A, B, C, D, F grades. I was just wondering if that will be a problem with applying to graduate programs? Do you know anyone from California who graduated from Roseman who didn't have a problem with the GPA issue? I would greatly appreciate any input you have. Thank you!

Hi! Thank you for your advice. I'm from CA and will be going to Roseman in Feb 2018. Lets say if I graduate June 2019, you would recommend applying to take the NCLEX in CA 4-6 months in advance then? I would like to take the NCLEX at least 1.5months after graduating. Any info will help! Thank you.
