NCLEX: Which State Board to apply?

Published

i just passed the Philippine NLE last july 2010. and i started volunteering as a staff nurse in some tertiary hospital since october.

i am thinking on taking NCLEX. but i have lots of questions in my mind...

here are:

1. i haven't had my PRC License # yet. is it a requirement?

2. which state board should i apply? one that doesn't require Social Security #. i've heard most estates are now upgrading requirements.

3. what is a compact state? why is it important?

4. some recommend saipan. but others don't. why?

5. what sites should i go on the net? one that has link on my application. i don't want to go to an agency for processing. i want to do it on my own so to save.

i hope you guys can help me in this.

thanks.

i am thinking on taking nclex. but i have lots of questions in my mind...

here are:

1. i haven't had my prc license # yet. is it a requirement? depends on the state but most currently do not require you to pass nle however if you have passed you may need your license number and due to retrogression i can't see any rush to submit your application

2. which state board should i apply? one that doesn't require social security #. i've heard most estates are now upgrading requirements.there are only a couple of states that currently strict on requiring ssn but that may change as it appears to be a federal requirement and not a state requirement

3. what is a compact state? why is it important?as someone currently living outside the us compact state has no impact on you because to come under compact you have to have a permanent address in one of the states that is in the compact agreement

4. some recommend saipan. but others don't. why? i think mainly saipan is recommended if you plan on working there. if you go to another state to work you still generally have to meet their requiremetns for international trained

5. what sites should i go on the net? one that has link on my application. i don't want to go to an agency for processing. i want to do it on my own so to save.applications and instructions can be found on all state board of nursing websites and links can be found at the bottom of the page or under the site map above

i hope you guys can help me in this.

thanks.

moved to the international forum, suggest a good read in this forum especially on retrogression as currently you will be affected

thank you Silverdragon102 for your reply. you've been very helpful. God bless always.. :-)

What state are you hoping to live in? That would make the most sense.

I think the reason why most are looking at states that don't require a ss# is so that they can have a license on hand. As Silverdragon pointed out due to retrogression, I can't see the rush either.

In Canada is everyone required to have something equivalent to a ss# (sorry I don't know if Canada has a similar name or not) in order to receive their RN license?

In Canada it is called SIN and no it is not required to obtain a license
