NCLEX tomorrow! Who else went in feeling "I don't know enough"?

Published

I have studied - a lot.

I did well in school, and scored very well on the predictor tests.

I vacillate between "I can do this" and "I just woke up and realized I don't know $%#!"

Perhaps this bi-polarity is common pre-NCLEX jitters? I keep feeling like I'll never pass because I lack the complex understanding of every pathophysiology of every disease, and can never remember each and every single manifestation of each and every electrolyte imbalance, and all the conditions, no matter how rare, they are associated with.

I believe I have a decent grasp on the basics/most common and important issues, but that it won't be enough for the monstrosity that is NCLEX.

So, who else freaked out like this, or is currently doing so right now?

I apologize for my neurosis, also. I hope it's permanently over approximately 3-5 days after I test. ;)

I don't know what I'd do without this forum.

when do i say enough is enough? yet i am afarid to stop...

Sounds like you're on the right track as far as preparation goes! I found the thing that helped me the most was answering a lot of questions, particularly, doing "mixed content" and Med/Surg practice tests. I know there is a lot of debate about "who's the best" - Kaplan, Saunders, Mosby, Davis, Lippincott, etc...

I used about four different sources, and I sincerely feel that they are all very similar, and any studying and practice you do is helpful. Use a couple of different sources if you can to get a feel for slightly different types of questions. I tried to "mix it up a bit" and found, lo and behold, that some of the questions I got on NCLEX were almost verbatim ones I had answered in my studies. Just exposing yourself to a lot of questions increases the chance you might see some very similar ones on the boards.

Good luck!

I agree with Vektor...just answer quests (esp med/surg) & pull all your

nursing knowledge/understanding into the test & you will find that the questions are very similar to some that you have come across before.

Good Luck to all that have taken the exam & awaiting results, as well as those waiting to test!!
