NCLEX Today - Stopped at 75

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here! :-) I just took the NCLEX this morning, and the computer shut down after 75 questions. I'm scared to death!!! I feel like I guessed at most of the questions and I have the most awful feeling that I failed!! I'm sooooo sick to my stomach right now. What are the chances of passing at only 75 questions?? I wanted more questions to "redeem" myself! Help!! :-)

Both my LVN and RN NCLEX tests stopped at 75. I passed both with no problem. Usually it is a good sign when it stops at the minimum. Further more, I have yet to hear of anyone that didn't pass when their test stopped at 75. Now just focus on that new job as a nurse and good luck with your new career!

If you got more questions, you'd be stressing that you got more than 75 and am sure you failed. Everyone stresses over the number of questions. 75 is the minimum number of questions required to pass or fail, doesn't mean anything. Take heart in most people pass with 75, but the number is only a number.

Good luck to you. Keep in touch. :)

We've had many people in this forum on both sides of the fence. Many get 75 and pass, but there are some who get 75 and fail. The other side: some get the most questions, 265, again, some fail with 265, others will pass. The numbers don't say anything, rather what kind of questions did you get? Did you get any priority questions? From what I've read here (and this forum is a goldmine when it comes to NCLEX discussion and preparation), the priority questions are the higher level questions.

Try not to worry about it for now. Here's a comforting statistic for you: For the year 2004, the national pass rate for first time NCLEX takers was ~86%. In other words, last year 86% taking the NCLEX passed it on their first try.

But I do understand waiting for the results is a difficult time. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Good luck to you. I am sure you did better than you think. :)

I just took my exam today too, and it also stopped at 75. I also felt the test was really difficult. I got lots of priority questions, and the "care is appropriate" types. I felt sooo nervous afterwards, and had that feeling like if I went on a rollercoaster and it was the most awful ride of my life and I say I'm never going on that thing again. But then I was anxious and smiling, and sorta happy. I think I will feel this way for the next 48 hours until my unofficial results appear. Good luck to everyone taking the test!

I'm sure you did great!! I didn't get too many priority questions....maybe 6 or so, nor did I get any of the new format questions. I still feel like I have to throw up! LOL!!! Oh well! Nothing I can do now.....Just wait! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well!!

I didn't get any new format questions either. Is that a bad sign?
