Hello
I am a grad entry student taking the NCLEX starting after fall semester 2018.
I have always had test anxiety where I don't perform to my best ability. I space out/get distracted, doubt my answers, and my whole body goes into anxiety mode (shaky hands, heart beating out of my chest, lack of focus, etc.). I have a diagnosis of GAD and take medication and go to therapy for it.
I managed to struggle through test anxiety in public school and college without accommodations, but I actually got accommodations in this program due to one of my professors being concerned about my test performances (I was getting D's when my peers were getting B's or A's). My accommodations include extra time and taking the test in a separate area away from distraction.
For those of you who have taken NCLEX, do they accommodate for these types of issues? If they don't, what can I do to prevent/manage test anxiety on exam day?
Thank you!
