NCLEX Study Tips

Published

I will be taking the NCLEX soon and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what is most helpful to study. Has anyone used a review or study program? Did you feel it was helpful? If you studied independently, what did you study?

There are many threads on this forum talking about test prep strategies. Most people are successful using Saunders Comprehensive Review, the Linda LaCharity book on Prioritization, and the Kaplan review book for test strategies. Set a test date from three weeks to three months out, then plan your study on a calendar and keep up on a daily basis. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales for the answers. That is about it for the most part. Save the expense of a live review unless you fail the exam or really feel like you are out in left field and want some "get started" direction. Good luck.

Do you feel that just reading questions was enough? Have you heard of the Hurst review? If you have, do you know if people seem to like it?

I took a review class that was included in my school classes. I enjoyed the class, though it was like 14 months of nursing school wrapped up in two days. I think it helped but if I had to pay for it myself, I wouldn't have. I used saunders comprehensive review and lippencott. 200 questions aday prepared me better than anything else.
