NCLEX scheduled 6/22 - Kaplan, Mosby's CAT, etc - advice?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone!

After a couple of weeks of surfing through the archived posts, I decided to register, and post my request for some advice and reassurance *I hope*.

I graduated May 13th from and ADN program...had a 3.4 GPA...didn't open a book until Kaplan started last week. Been doing about 200 questions per day...A LOT of practice exams, and scoring between 65-75% on Kaplan and NCSBN.com.

I just took my first CAT practice (MOsby's)....results showed a 94% passing of the NCLEX.....but I'm soooo worried!!! I have the some of the worst test anxiety, and am scared that I'm going to fail the NCLEX.

Kaplan hasn't helped too much....especially since my diagnostic test showed that I'm "borderline" passing....took the readiness test today and will get results tomorrow.

I'm scheduled for NCLEX on 6/22...plan to study/take practice exams from Friday through Monday...and take Tuesday as a "mental health" day.

Can anyone offer some advice? How about some therapeutic communication? :crying2:

Thanks so much!!!

That was about my range, actually lower on some of the tests. My pretest was a 75%. But on the randoms I would go from a 50-80% range. I would then repeat the exams until I was in the 90's. I redid the priority and managerial stuff and looked over endocrine and pharmacology. Of course did not have one endocrine on my exam and only one pharm. question. I just remember priority, priority, priority. GOOD LUCK, and you will do fine!

I didn't have any endocrine on mine either, and that was something I kept going back to study because I was always mixing stuff up! :chuckle

Hi Pam! How did you do? Hey you took it in Worcester, right? Do you get into the building through the door to the right of the bank-and just go up the elevator? I know where the big building is but never drove up there yet-so I'm trying to picture it. Maybe I should go in to make sure I know where i'm going! good luck!!! :)

Hi Chirstine!!

Well, it shut off at 75...I have no idea how I did. I feel like I guessed on so many of them!! I had a lot of priority, some meds, NO math, and questions on Alzheimers and botulism...go figure. I'm just hoping that it shut off because I passed!! :uhoh3:

Anyway, the center in Worcester is on the 6th floor...easy to find. Be prepared to lock everything up in a locker....no watches, bracelts, etc. I do highly recommend the free earplugs they have there!!! The women are really nice who work there....you'll do fine!!

Just keep doing, and doing, and doing, and doing the practice questions. There is no way to study for this. Know your lab values, because they may be included in a patient who is listed as a priority.

Best of luck, and keep me posted!!

Pam

P.S. I sent you a PM --- did you get it?

My goal is to do at least 4000 questions before next friday! Oh and yep, I got your PM a few days ago. Don't forget to tell me when you get the good news!!! :)
