Hello Everybody: I truly need your help. A friend of mine has just taken NCLEX-RN, and she told me some of the Q were about post mortem cares to a Jewish patient, and a Russian Ortodox patient. I have Silvestri's Saunders Review Book. I've search in it and I found very little on this subject. Could anybody tell me where to find more?

On the other hand, she was asked about Paget's Bone Disease. Which I recall as a child's disease. I couldn't find anything regarding this. I'd apprecialte if someone could tell me where to find info on this subject too.

Thank you all!!

T hank you silverdragon, for your prompt response. I'll forward this to my friend. Thank a lot!!!

There are differences in the Jewish religion as to what is done in a general way. The orthodox are the most releigious, and in death, the person is not left alone, until they are taken to the funeral home. A family member will stay at the bedside. They are also not to be wrapped in a shroud by the nurses, unless there is a Jewish nurse there. Organ donations are even stressed by the rabbis as a good thing to do, but autopsies are to be done only as required by the medical examiner for cases of trauma, etc.

Russian Orthodox follow routine traditions, it is considered a tragedy to the family and is not a happy occasion as in some religions. Organ donations adn autopsies are acceptable.

You are already coverd for the Paget's disease, hope that this helps answer your other questions.
