Nclex RN exam Dillema!help badly needed

Published

Hi! Im having some difficulties with my nclex-rn review and im also getting a bit worried because my exam date is fast approaching. I have some questions and I hope someone can help me with it. I'm currently enrolled in a Kaplan review course and to be honest, I don't find the Kaplan lecture class that beneficial on my review except with their Qbank that somehow depicts the real nclex exam questions (according to some post that I read).I also got a Kaplan course book (included in the review package) and I don't know if I should spend time reading it knowing that it's not that complete. I have the saunders 5th edition book and I find it helpful but quite overwhelming. Here's my first question: Is spending time reading the course book worth it or should I just stick with saunders and use it by heart? Is there other specific book/s that I need to read and focus on? And for my last question, can anyone give me an advice on what TOPICS do I need to focus more which may probably give me a big aid on passing my exam? I'm totally confused right now and getting pressured with everything. I really do want to pass my exam and im doing all the effort just to be ready on my test day. I'm keeping my fingers cross that someone can give me an advice or answer to my queries.Thank you and God bless! :nurse:

I just took my NCLEX yesterday and my advice would be to just focus on what they have listed in their test plan. Each person's test is completely different, so honestly, as disheartening as it may be to hear, you NEVER know what is going to be on your test. *sigh* I studied like 9-10 thousand questions and walked out of my exam feeling like I knew nothing that was on the test.

thanks for the reply stressedoutiniowa. I know that no one can predict what may come out of the test and im just hoping someone can give me topics that i should be familiar with. But my real concern here is the course book actually, i have no question with kaplan's Qbank but with the course book, im totally in doubt if i should continue reading it. Do you think it will be helpful if i just focused on my saunders book as my reference and just use kaplan as my question trainer?=D

I personally used ATI, Saunders review book, and RN-3500. RN-3500 and ATI for computerized practice questions and Saunders for reference/questions. I did around 9-10k before I tested out.

I would spend more effort with the QBank if it is more helpful to you.

I scan-read Saunders 5th edition book, and I did Kaplan Q trainers, and like 10% of the Qbank questions. That's all I did, and I passed the first time with 75 questions.

I just passed my nclex on the 4th time. I used the Saunders book and questions this time. I felt I needed the review. Def keep doing questions and review whAt u need to. I had and hear that many people had alot of priorities, infection control, Meds, and select all that apply. Good luck. Try to relax
