i will take my 3rd attempt to pass the nclex this october. just when it hits 45 days. i just can't take it and just want to take it again already. i wasn't expecting at all to fail in my 2nd try but oh well i did. anyway, i want to change up my studying tools. what are good books out there for me to read on?

i don't wanna take that ncbsn class cuz i dont wanna have to pay that much. might as well get books which cost much less if you get a good used one. so what are your suggestions on good reading material?

i have saunders books both the content and the q&a; i have the kaplan purple book too and the kaplan strategies. i read la charity is good too but what else??

Hello there!

Have you tried exam cram yet? It's a small book but people mostly use the CD that comes with it. What I've come to learn is that you can review all the nursing material and memorize it until you turn blue, but it won't matter a bit unless you know how to answer NCLEX-style questions. Borrow the CD from a library or just buy it since it's cheap. I'd say give it a try and it really does mimic the actual test and how the questions are asked. Perhaps that's where you're getting stuck and you probably freeze up when you don't know how to answer a question. So,

1. Review your material one more time.

2. Practice with the Exam Cram NCLEX CD until you've mastered the test mode.

3. While testing, breathe deeply and tell yourself that you know this material and you can do it!

Positive thinking and a clear mind goes a long way. And besides, mountain tops can't exist without the valleys so stay strong and know that this experience is only going to make you a better person!

Good Luck to you and happy studying! :clown:

Don't get so many books that you have a mini library but don't go through them all. If you want another one, get the LaCharity book. Then, you know the drill, do questions and study the rationales. Good luck.
