NCLEX review?

Published

So I know I just started my first semester of nursing school (its 2 years) but I want to start getting ready for the nclex.

I have the Saunders NCLEX review with some questions, but I also want a practice book. Any suggestions?

And since it is so early is there any way I should be preparing?

Our school has us do 10 nclex questions on what we are going over and turn them in on thursdays, and for every chapter we are going over I go to the Pearson book review and do the concept review with nclex style questions.

I just want to get all the help I can so when it finally comes time for boards, I will be ready.

Learn normal lab values. Start now. Then, when you know them, you can start learning normal lab values for children. Children of all ages. Seriously, you need to know normals so you can recognize abnormals. In real life the abnormals will be flagged, but not on tests. Towards the end of my schooling I designated a "lab value of the day" and made sure I committed it to memory.

Also, learn about drugs - contraindications, side effects, drug interactions. You might pick one class of drugs a week to learn inside and out. It will help. If you do a pump and dump you won't retain the information. Learn slowly and it will stick.
