Hi, i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on studying for state boards. I have a computerized Q&A that i have been using. I've had some people say they didnt even use the books, just the cd's. I am also taking a 4 day review course at the end of may. Anyone else just use Cd's and pass? Did any of you go to a review course? Do you think that would be enough reviewing for state boards? thanks for your help and suggestions, Amanda

I took a review course when I graduated in '92. They said if you do not do at least 1,000 questions between now and Boards you might not pass. They suggested noting which questions you guess at or got wrong and review the rationales for them. I used books because 10 years ago there weren't CD-Rom programs readily available. I chose books that had the rationales and mixed tests rather than a section for each thing like GI, Renal, etc. I passed with no problem. I also used this method for taking and passing the CCRN exam which makes Boards look like a walk in the park on a sunny day. Go into your exam like it is just another test. You can always take it again. The more pressure people put on themselves the more likely they are to choke. About 2 weeks before Boards you should be doing about 200 test questions a night (not as bad as it sounds) and you should do very well for yourself on the test cause when you go in to take it you'll be used to sitting down for that period of time and doing that many questions. Don't take any breaks while doing the 200 questions. Sit there and do it.
