hi everyone, can you recommend a nclex review center in chicago. i already inquired with martin review center. any other review centers in the area? please advice.tnx

Review centers in the US are geared towards new grads of US programs. You are much better off doing the review on your own. Much better for you and with better results.

Where are you currently located?

tnx suzanne. i am currently based in the philippines.graduated last april with a degree in BSN. im leaving for chicago and new york this july for a vacation. im thinking of attending review classes in the said states though ill be staying longer in chicago.have just filed for an application for nclex.it is best for me to attend and sit down on review classes rather doing things on my own. i hope you can recommend a good center.thanks a lot

These centers are not geared towards foreign grads, so I cannot recommend one for you.

hi there kabayan mocha!

suzanne is right. u're better off doing review by yourself. you can do it. determination, a ton of discipline, and prayers will see you through. you must be really serious in your review coz i tell you NCLEX is difficult and requires a lot of critical thinking! i just passed the boards which i took last april 12. i did self review. good luck!

Hi suzanne I am graduating this year (BSN) in the philippines I was been working in the US for many years in the field of HR at management level I am based in CA due to the economic downturn and increased demands for nurses I went home and study nursing. When I do back to CA do I have to take the CGFNS or just the NCLEX? Thanks

hi everyone. please give me tips on how to start reviewing for the nclex. i graduated 14 years ago and practiced nursing only for 6 mos. as an endoscopy /rr nurse and that's juz it. pleas give me an advise on how to start or what approach i'll be needing for the preparation. will a self study work? but isn't my knowledge obsolete? does attending a review class can help. my anxiety level is too high. don't know how to start. :uhoh21:

I did self-review as well, and used Saunder's comprehensive exam book & CD... and, do you remember those expensive books that we used in college? They are great in explaining the disease process (especially MS by Black!) which proved to be a valuable tool when faced w/ questions requiring critical thinking. I also went NCSBN online (after all they are the ones who make the NCLEX). The point is, NCLEX will only ask you questions that you, as an entry level nurse MUST know (like how to use an AED). You don't need someone to make you understand (i.e. lecturers), and eventually forget, but if YOU did understand, you will NEVER forget. Good luck! :lol2: PS: It took me 3 months to know that I am ready :)

I'm a wannabeLPN. I take my NCLEX PN next year. However, I'm still in high school and I use the ATI book to study for the NCLEX. It's really great! It consists of mutilple chioce, short response, and "check all that apply" questions that will be featured on the NCELX PN. It requires a lot of critical thinking which will be helpful when I take my NLEX. I hope I pass. I usually study for 30 minutes q d. It also comes with a CD-rom to use in conjunction with the book. good luck!!! :nurse:
