Nclex requirements in nj

Published

Hi,

These are the summary of questions that I sent to NJ BON using the email addresses that they provided at downloadable forms but yahoomail sent a reply stating that emails provided does not exist. Can anyone help figure this out for me? I have a non-immigrant visa (petitioned by fiance) but still here in Philippines hoping to complete my requirements before I go to NJ. Please help I don't know how to start. By the way, a nurse friend told me that I won't be needing CES anymore since my visa is (K-1 fiancee visa), i just need to pass NCLEX.

*SUMMARY OF QUESTIONS:

1. Does NJ have a Program Verification Form for nursing school where I graduated (and where can I find/download) and what are the other requirements to be included in the mail to be sent by my nursing school.

2. Does my primary/secondary school also need to fill up a form and send some requirements to NJ Board of Nursing or not needed?

3. What are the forms that need to be notarized? Just the Affidavit? or Certification too?

4. Should I be fingerprinted again even if I already had my fingerprint card sent after November 2003 when I took my NCLEX-RN in California State?

5. I don't have U.S. SSS number, can I take the exam?

PLEASE HELP. Thank you very much.

Moved to the Nurse registration forum in World.

You will still have to go through CES for NJ as it has nothing to do with how you get your immigrant visa but is a breakdown on your transcripts of training.

Here is a link to the application form for International trained nurse http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/nursing/fornurse_app.pdf

You will be requried to be fingerprinted again as fingerprints in CA do not transfer to NJ. Technically a SS# is required to apply for a license in NJ as per the application and federal requirement. Whether NJ BoN will issue a license without a SSN can change at anytime. For example, NJ BoN only recently decided to no longer accept practical nursing education completed in the Philipines as it is not a recognized credential in the Philippines nor are any of the programs approved by the PRC/BoN equivalent.

Also, you are not applying for NCLEX but applying for a license by examination; NCLEX is only one part of the application process to becoming a licensed nurse in the US.

Hi everyone! Can anyone help me please in filling-up these questions on the application form? Because I'm not that sure about my answer.

*Citizenship/Immigration Status? There are only 3 choices: U.S. citizen, Alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in U.S. and Other immigration status

I am a Filipina, and I'm expecting to be in NJ this year through fiancee visa, not yet a LPR.

*Do you currently hold, or have you ever held, a professional license or certificate of any kind in NJ, any other state, the District of Columbia or in any jurisdiction? Yes or No?

I only have a license in Philippines.

Please help me. Thank you.

Since you do not have a visa, permanent residence status nor are you a citizen, you would have to answer "other immigration status". Even if you had a working visa you would still have to check "other immigration status".

Your answer would be yes, as Philippines is "any other jurisdiction" and include information about your Philippine license.

Once again, you should contact the NJ Board of nursing for assistance as there are phone numbers/email contact information for each of these questions listed on the application for internationally educated nurses.
