NCLEX readiness?

Published

So I'm scheduled to take the NCLEX in 10 days. Needless to say I am freaking out! I'd like some advice on what to do next. Should I reschedule my exam or just attempt to study a lot in the next week and take it?

Here's my deal: I get distracted very easily. Making myself focus is one of my most difficult problems, so of course I put off studying for the NCLEX. For the past week and a half I've been studying about 30 minutes to 2 hours a day. I always got so-so scores on ATI in school and more often then not, I got a level 1 on ATI exams. Also I've started a full-time GN position at a hospital which has definitely decreased my study time all June.

I don't feel very confident at all! Medications + Safe/Effective Care and Physiological Integrity are my biggest weak points for the NCLEX. Usually I can get questions narrowed down to two answers, but I always seem to choose the wrong one. I'll admit I've only done a small amount of Kaplan Q-banks and need to finish a few more QTs.

Other than taking lots of questions in the free time I will have next week, does anyone have advice? Should I reschedule for another week and keep studying?

The questions are set up so that you have a hard time deciding between two answers. You need to be able to get beyond that. If you don't feel that you'll be ready in 10 (now 8) days, I would reschedule. That said, be honest with yourself- how much more studying will you get done if you postpone? Will you TRULY buckle down and do it? If not, don't reschedule, and just do as much as you can until then, relax the day prior, and take the exam.

How are your Kaplan scores so far? That might be a good way to gauge yourself. Did you take the class?
