Dear Already have taken NCLEX folks:
I have a goofy question.....Are the questions you did while studying similar to those that were on the NCLEX....style-wise....I am sort of worried that the questions are going to be set up very differently than from what I have been studying (Lippincott, Mosby)....
Does this make sense??
Oh and I thought of another tidbit. The people in my class that have failed took the Drexel review course. Just some food for thought I guess. I did not take it because I did not have the money, but it seems that course did not help them. I am not sure if other courses are better, but that was just what was offered at our school. So before you take the test just check out your best options, and it may be just studying on your own or in a group.
I took the NCLEX last week and passed with 75 questions. I utilized ATI, Lippincott, Davis, Saunders and Kaplan and found that Kaplan questions resembled the NCLEX the most. I suggest doing questions on the computer and simulate test conditions as much as possible in order to train your mind for a potential marathon. Better to be prepared than out of shape.
HI,I have not taken the exam but is scheduled on JULY 24 yet...PLs pray for me too. Just wanted to pitch in my mode of studying though.Which I hope and PRay to succeed like the others.
I very much agree with suzanne4 that saunders is the best for in depth learning..I was able to try a little of ncsbn,kaplan,nclx3000,nclex-practice.com ---practised some of it -not all though.....but I very much like the comprehensive book and cd of saunders because I learned so much from it compared to the others. Actually enjoying it and hope to be finished on time before I take the test.Plus keep on thinking positively...remember NO GUTS,NO GLORY! GOODLUCK to us all would be takers! Just keep on believing that we will receive it from HIM.To God Be the Glory!!
I think Saunders is the hardest and gives the best rationale. I found the NCLEX to be one of the easiest test I have taken and I think it's because I did Saunders and the Kaplan review course. I did flashcards on all the wrong answers I got and reviewed those every day for a week before the test. I studied the areas that I was most unsure of and learned meds by their classification. Most have similar side effects. Good luck!!!
I like saunders for the questions and the rationale. They let you know the level of the questions as well as the client needs category which is very helpful. I also have a book on priority which helps out with those questions which can be difficult. The questions are quite comparable to NCLEX. I had to learn the strategies and how to answer the questions so I like the Kaplan strategies book.

I used the Saunders and NCLEX-RN Made Incredibly Easy. As others have said NCLEX questions are in a league of their own. Books can come close, but no way near close enough. NCLEX questions were a lot harder than both books I had. I did not feel prepared for the priotitizing questions because the books that I had did not emphasize that enough. Honestly, just study as much as you can and pray that what you study is on there, which in most cases it is not! lol The pharm questions were unbelievable! meds you have NEVER heard of. Best of luck to you!!!!
