I took the nclex and had a bunch of questions on interdisciplinary team. Something like when would you collaborate and which patient. What's the best way to study for that kind of questions?

i think the best way to approach these questions is to know the function of each team member and know the disease process that the patient has. An easy example is a stroke pt.
OT - for ADLs
PT - assessing their ability to walk
speech therapist - dysphagia
dietary - special diet (blend or soft)
casemanager - placement for discharge or make sure the proper medical equiptment are available at home (walker, commode, and etc)
Ah, ok. It was just confusing to me because questions were asking which patient would need an interdisciplinary team.

Without seeing the question/options, my gut would be: complex issues with many need areas and expectation of long-term follow-up/oversight even after discharge!
Thanks!

Hi,
I agree with everyone else. Knowing the disease process and how complex the patient's status is given their disease is important. Knowing the foundation of the disease will tell you enough to determine what services they need. For example, someone with a stroke might need care from a doctor, nurse, speech pathologist, occupational therapy, etc... You'll pass (if that's what you're worried about). If you don't, it's alright too! Good luck :)
