NCLEX practice questions per day?

How many did you do before taking the NCLEX? And...did you do any while in school? Did they help you succeed with nursing tests?

Thanks for your input!

I take my NCLEX on August 2nd, and I've been trying to do 100 questions a day. Sometimes it's a little less than that if I feel lazy. I've heard from others on this site that the practice questions are the most helpful, especially on the CD's that come with many of the guides.

I did 75 questions a day with the Kaplan course (2 days a week - so 150 a week over 4 weeks plus two 180 practice tests = 960), then the first 4 Kaplan Question Trainer tests - 350 more questions. I did a variety of questions throughout the Saunders book - about 250 and for the 5 days of hard core studying I did, we did about 300 questions a day. Overall from graduation to NCLEX I had taken about 3000+ questions. Yes we did questions while I was in school (ATI tests every 2 weeks or so).

Yes, they ALL helped. Mostly what helped was reading the rationales to the questions I got wrong or the ones that I had guessed at. I knew why I got the ones right. But learning what I had done wrong was more important than anything.

Don't overdo the questions. 25 q day should be your limit. Saunders 3rd edition cd and read the Kaplan book -- really helps you take the boards. Stay calm as you can. And if you are like the rest of us that have taken the boards, you will still fill inadequate. Good luck!
