Monday September 19th 2016 I took my Nclex PN. Heres some quick background about me.
- I graduated in June of this year.
-The school I attended used ATI heavily.
-Im from Ohio
It took me so long to take the test because I was a nervous wreck. DONT STALL! Take the test as soon as you can after you graduate because the information will still be fresh, trust me on this!
To study, I used ATI, UWorld and the NCLEX PN mastery app. All were very helpful. UWorld is very explanatory in their rationales. This is very helpful in understanding the material and why the answers you picked were wrong. ATI is very detailed as well. NCLEX mastery was a more on the go tool for me, also helpful with information. My favorite was UWORLD because it shows you the percentage of people that had the questions rignt. Kind of gives you some reassurance that you were above, at the same level, or below the percentage of people answering the same question.
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT just go through answering questions. Actually teach yourself why an answer is not right. This way when you take the test you will know what is absolutely not the right answer. This test is tricky. Everything will either look rignt, or confusing. It helped me tremendously to ween out the ones I knew were wrong especially on the SATA.
Now for the test...
That morning I cried, prayed, and let everything go. You made it to this point, no need to give up now. I arrived at about 730, my test was at 8. I was able to test about 745. I was done at 840.
Wear something comfortable! Dont take anything but your keys and ID. Now, there are noise cancelling headphones you can use, or ear buds to help with the noise. My test site was actually quiet already.
Now, these questions are much easier than ATI, Uworld and the Nclex app, HOWEVER they are still made for you to critically think! This is why its important for you to understand what you are studying. I cannot emphasize this enougn!
In the beginning you have a tutorial, and then the test, and afterwards a survey. Keep in mind you have 5 hours to take this. My advice..
*READ the question thoroughly!
*Read the answers thoroughly!
*Go with your gut and carry on!
*Dont second guess or change your answer. There is a reason we have a gut instict!
I had 92 questions and I absolutely felt like I failed. Most people do. Have your cry and pick yourself up, its going to be ok!
I tried to the PVT about an hour later and got the "good pop up". I know people are on the fence about this so Ill just leave it at that. In Ohio we have quick results, but I had my results the next day! Woot!
I know this is alot but I just wanted to give some info about my experience. Good luck to you all!
