NCLEX-PN Readiness Advice

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello,

I am studying for NCLEX-PN (June 30, 2010) using questions from Saunders, Mosby's, Lippincott, and NCSBN. Additionally, I'm using my school books and Taber's to review content. Unfortunately, I am still only managing between 65% to 70% on the tests (Except Lippincott, I am in the high 80%). With my test just a week a way, should I push the date back or should I just go in there and do it?

I guess I am confused about my readiness, because I am confused about the passing score criteria. I am told (and have read) that I need to display a competence level over 50% with 95% certainty while answering a minimum of 85 questions. So, does that mean I have a shot at passing with the practice scores I have now?

I'm thinking that I can get into the 80% range with all of the Q&A books by the day of the test. I'm just concerned, because my CNA test required me to score over 70% on the written. I can't imagine, that I would only need to get over 50% on my NCLEX PN.

I want to apologize in advance if this question is confusing. I also want to thank you all in advance for taking the time to read and answer it.

P.S.

I promise to not hold anyone responsible for the decision and outcome as a result of his or her reply. I'm only trying to benefit from another's experience by finding out if my June 29th goal is realistic or lofty.

Thanks again.

Utilize your own judgement as to whether you are ready or not. Some people go in confident and still fail, others go in doubting themselves and pass. I would go ahead and keep the appointment. Good luck.

You have a point there. Thank you.

good luck taking mine in 2 weeks.

Review all the sessions and feel ready, only you know if your well prepared or not!! Good luck

Well, today is the day. In 2.5 hours I will be sitting in front of a computer asking me one question after another. I will NOT think of...:

  1. My life depending on the outcome of the test
  2. My income depending on the outcome of the test
  3. My future depending on the outcome of the test
  4. BLAH BLAH BLAH! on the outcome of the test

I will only think happy thoughts and realize it is just a test. I know what I am doing when I am on the floor. This test is just confirming what I ALREADY know.

I will take this test today with no rescheduling (...besides.... who wants to pay another $200 bucks?)

Thank you all for your warm words of encouragement. I'm gonna go do this thing.....ROAR!!!!!!!!!!! *pounds chest*
