Hi guys, so I just graduated from LVN school and I'm about to take my NCLEX on April 26th. I've been reading the Kaplan PN book, and it talks about 25 experimental questions. I'm just wondering, hypothetically speaking, I get these 25 questions wrong. I know they won't be counted against you, which is where my concerns lies. Would they still be counted as part of the # of questions that I took? I'm just concerned because I know you must have the minimum of completing 85 questions, so what if I get the minimum of 85 and these 25 questions effect that and the # gets lower?

I may be wrong, but it seems that the beta questions are now given after you complete the test.
If it it still the old way in which the 25 beta questions were distributed into the first 85 questions (75 for RN), then you would have 60 questions that count and 25 that don't count.

Experimental/beta questions are distributed throughout the test. It would be impossible to prove validity if they were administered after test completion and the test taker was aware that they were not scored questions. I'm not exactly sure what your concern is, though. 85 questions is the minimum number, and that includes all experimental questions. Which means that the minimum scored questions you must answer is 60.
