first of all, never give up taking the test!! i don't think the changes will affect ones chances of passing the test. it may just better your chances on passing it :). i was scared to take the test again after an awful "fail/fails" but i kept going until i was finally successful. it's natural to be scared and discourage but you have to overcome these feelings. as long as you hold on to the negative feelings, you could ruin your chances of passing this test. you got to let go and let god. your attitude has got to be positive to achieve! so what if you take the test again and you don't pass this time around, be upset, cry a little, maybe alot, let it out but jump back on the wagon and start it over again, brand new... the best books i used and was finally successful on the test with, were the latest edition of saunders and lacharity. you must learn the content, without this you will have a hard time answering question's on the test. do questions, questions and more questions, check rationals (right or wrong). see why you answered the question the way you did (right or wrong). you can do this! allnurses is here to help, check other threads for invaluable test tips.
good luck to you!!

I agree. I spent the last year + preparing for the NCLEX-PN exam. I attended class every day, did all the reading (thousands of pages!), did all the assignments, nursing plans, etc. didn't miss one single clinical.
to prepare for NCLEX-PN, I used saunders 4th edition. answered every question on the CD (all 3700 of them), understood the rationales and strategies. IMESHO, the questions focused on the pertinent information, stuff I needed to pass the test. it's alot of information but I did 200-300 questions/day. I paced myself. I didn't slack, I was focused, and determined to pass on the first try.
also memorized significant lab values, antidotes, prioritization, and infection control. mneumomics helped me a lot. got 'em here on allnurses. MRSWEE, SPIDERMAN, MyChickenHeZTB.
I'd say that >50% of my test questions were on subjects in the above paragraph.
check out one of my previous posts for more information.
good luck! and remember, you have been preparing for this test for a while!
thank you for these sweet comments i actually feel soo much better after this & NurseLil-Lea you are right this could actually be better for me, tho they said it always gets harder & yes i just need to focus on content & i should be fine.
notmanydaysoff thank you for this info. i have the saunders book the green one & im going to google these mnemonics right now! i wanted to ask you if youys think 7 weeks is good enough time? thanks again :heartbeat
7 wks for me woulda been waaaay too much. by the end of that amt of time, I woulda forgotten the stuff I studied at the beginning !
you are the best judge of how much time you need.

Don't concentrate on the fact that it may or may not have changed. The questions are going to be there whether or not you take a new version. You still have to know the content behind the questions, so study accordingly. And good luck!
