NCLEX Pharmacology Study Tips

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys,

I just finished my pharmacology class this summer and have one more year left of nursing school and before I take the NCLEX. I want to keep studying pharm so that I'm not rusty come next year and have been wanting to make flash cards and was hoping to get some suggestions. Should I just make flash cards over the general classes of drugs or individual ones. And then what should I put on them for each? Action, side effects, contraindications, etc.

Thanks a bunch and I hope everyone's enjoying their summers!!

Know the classification, suffixes, what it is for, therapeutic level, when to administer, type of food to eat and not to eat, drugs that change the color of urine, side effects/adverse effects, contraindication, & pt. teaching or nursing intervention. Best is to learn them by system and name the meds. Pay attention to the drugs your pts. use in your clinical rotations. Familiarize yourself on tv commercials and read what you see in the magazines or journals. There are many posts here from successful test takers who shared their notes on Pharm. Hope I answered your question.
