NCLEX to Packet 4 - length of time?

Hi

I am having a few issues with my recruitment company not being exactly speedy regarding submission of my documents to USCIS. Passed NCLEX in April - the company tell me it will take 12-14 months to get to Packet 4 (this excludes 2 months by the company vetting my documents before they send them to USCIS). Does this seem rather a long time? Whilst I didn't think the complete process would take a few weeks, I didn't expect another 14 months on top of my current 14 months in the system :angryfire

Can anyone give me the length of time it took them from passing NCLEX to actually getting Packet 4 (from other threads, I take it to be approx 1 month minimum from Packet 4 to leaving the UK)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

I am hoping to find out where very soon and hopefully by the end of august.

What job do you do here?

I am a midwife here, but going to the US as an obstetric nurse. It will be interesting to see how much the roles differ.

Do you have any idea where you would like to go? What area do you want to work in?

that's interesting I was told to return to nursing which I did because I am a RN/RM too. As I would find it impossible to get a job working in my speciality :uhoh3:

Specializes in Stroke Rehab, Elderly, Rehab. Ortho.

What I don't fully understand is how it can differ so greatly

It really is frustrating :banghead: 3 YEARS!!!! :bluecry1:

It does vary a lot partly because there is always someone who forgot to do something or didnt do something right. My initial delay was my school of nursing doesnt exist anymore so they had to find the microfeish (sp?) of my transcripts and when they sent them on they hadnt put it in hours but in days so they had to do it again, then CGFNS decided there wasnt any nutrition on my transcript then it was no pharmocology, so a few months wasted there...for a start. When I eventually sat the NCLEX in Nov 2003 I had my Hubby and 2 small children ill right up to the night before with my baby having had a temp of 40.2 and my eldest had gone in with suspected appenditis (Hubby had Florida Flu) - so I was stressed to say the least. Then I had to wait 3 months to resit it (it is now 45 days I believe) - but we had to save to get another flight so that meant I had to work more hours to achieve that. Then there was a delay with the visascreen and it goes on - any sort of delay I couldve had I have had...lol hence it is nealry 3 yrs. Now my documents were sent to London Embassy on the 23rd June so hoping to get packet 4 pretty soon...I would hope to be out in Florida by Spetember...and thankfully my Boss here said I can just give him a date to leave - I dont need to give any notice as a replacement for me is in hand and he has known from the start that I wanted to go...... :chuckle

I thought I had read that in a previous post of yours. I was never advised to go back to nursing, only that obstetric nurse posts were rare outside of California.

As I didn't really mind where I went, that wasn't a problem.Do you want a particular state?
