Hi I am a Canadian RN and is going to write nclex next month, I was just wondering about timing of the exam,
Is is 5 or 6 hr long, and has 265 questions, and also two ten min breaks?
I think it is quiet fast for me. I am scared from this exam, some people say it is harder than canadian RN exam, Is that true,
Please reply
thank you

Can anyone out there help me understand what to make of taking 265 questions on the NCLEX? I don't understand what it means that if the computer isn't 95% sure, then there is a "passing standard"
What does that mean!

Every nurse that sits for the NCLEX-RN exam will get anywhere from 75 to 265 questions. The number means absolutely nothing in determining if you fail or not.
The exam is computerized and should progressively get harder in the questions, not easier. The level that you are getting the qeustions correct at, determines if you will pass or not. It is that simple.

Major difference between the Canadian exam and the NCLEX. First, pay special attention to names of drugs as well as lab values, there are considerable differences in the scales that we use, example blood sugar measurements. Canadian exam is pencil and paper, like the old exams that we used ot have when each state had their own. NCLEX just wants to know that you know how to sue the information that you learned in school.
Common sense with the ABCs thrown in for good measure, nothing more.
