update on feb 2006 :
as expected, ncsbn has officially announced their decision to open testing centres in india and some other countries. refer www.ncsbn.org for details.
i have heard some news that ncsbn is currently on talks with folks from india about offering the nclex exam in india. at this point, i am not sure whether it is correct or not. it appears that ncsbn will take a decision about this by october 2005 and the official announcement (if any) will happen on jan 2006.
since they have successfully implemented nclex in 3 foreign countries, i am optmistic that they will spread it to more countires and, as anyone can guess, india and philippines will be their first choice for expansion since these countries have more nurses wanting to work in us as an rn.
at this point its a wait and watch game..so, let's wait and see how it turns up.
Nearly 75% of Indian nurses workforce are from Kerala (Southern most state) but NCSBN has not alloted a centre to this state. There are three centres in the South but hundreds of miles away from Kerala. The reason not to allot a centre to Kerala could be its inadequate facilities (not security). Eventhough this is the case, Keralite nurses will use all the five centres as they are the workforce in all major cities of India.

Hello there!
I have finally registered with pearson-vue and should register for a test. New Delhi is the closest at present (!!!!) and I have no idea how does one register there. I googled it and found 'how to' but that site was under construction.
I would suppose this centre also fills up quickly - anybody can help?
Web? Telephone? Geena
I doubt if it will fill up that quickly, as the first sceduled appt will be for the 1st of April. Details should be given on the Pearson-Vue website how to register, not sure what they are doing with India, but so far for the foreign centers, the actual sceduled date needs to be done directly with the center.

They are already posted in the sticky at the top of the page, India is actually getting five centers (three in the south), but still none for the Philippines.
Centers will start taking appts this week and the centers are expected to sit the first applicants on 1st of April.
