NCLEX eligibility

Published

hi everyone i need help.. im a registered nurse in the Philippines. i applied to California board of nursing for eligibility and luckily i got the eligibility letter last may 4.2009. the letter says that "your file will become inactive and will be destroyed if you do not register and test with PEARSON VUE within two (2) years from the date of this eligibility."

i wasn't able to register and get and ATT but I'm planning to register now but I'm afraid that my file is already inactive and my payment will be wasted. is true that i should have register before may of this year and my file is already inactive???

Specializes in NICU.

Two years from May 9, 2009 is May 9, 2011. Next year.

there are people telling me that i should have register within 1 year and since the ATT is valid for a year that makes it two years is this true??

Call them and see what they tell you. Whatever the next step is, you can find out and do what needs to be done when you find out from the BRN.

You may want to visit the International Forum. If you don't currently have a ss# then CA will no longer permit you to sit for the exam. It also states that on their website. Even if you had permission before, sat for the exam and failed they won't allow you to retest. So if you didn't sit for the exam while you had the eligibility to do so then unfortunately you won't be allowed to either. If you don't have a ss# then you may want to search for a state that will issue you a license with out a ss#. Even though you may initially gain a license you may or may not be able to renew it with out one. STATE BOARDS are now becoming more strict and fees are going up. If you have a ss# (ITIN# doesn't qualify) then you should contact the board and find out how much the fee is to start the process again. Good Luck

hi can i endorse my license from texas to CA ? do i have to work in texas first or can i endorse my license right away after passing nclex? tnx

As long as you have a valid ss# and you meet all of CA requirements then you should have no problem endorsing your license from Tx. Good Luck
