Any othe UK nurses out there, and what are you using to study for this?

Any helpful info from anyone......

I found Saunders comprehensive was the book that helped me the most and I bought several as I didn't pass until 3rd time

Did you train in UK, and if so how long ago did you pass the NCLEX?

Thanks for the info re Saunders and SATA.

You can tell I am new at this US nursing thing..

Yes I trained in the UK and passed NCLEX back in 04.

It is harder for a foreign nurse to pass NCLEX, would suggest practice and keep practising, read the rationale. Not sure how many years experience you have but when doing questions forget it and pretend you are a new grad. May also want to look at NCSBN website and learningext (part of NCSBN)

Specializes in Surgical HDU, Med, IDU.

Hi STUDYBUDDY,

Like SD, I too passed on 3rd attempt.... I,m already here living and had been working as a PCT.. (clinical support worker to us) I got loads of books given to me by other nurses, but I liked the SAUNDERS 4TH EDITION..

Also, study as if you are a student.. nclex world doesnt want you to think like what really goes on in the wards.. and you,ll be amazed what you have forgot.. well, I did anyway:bugeyes::bugeyes:

There is also another book I liked.. LINDA LA CHARITY..ASSESSMENT, PRIORITY AND DELEGATION.. you will get asked loads of qs on this..

GOOD LUCK

Yes took NCLEX back in 04 and in Sept 05 dh got fed up of the waiting so cancelled US and then reapplied in Aug 06 got approval and then retrogression hit. We was going to wait but when dh got the chance for Canada and we looked into it more we came and after a few months living here decides it was right for us and cancelled the US again.

Thanks for the info re Delegation book. I will add this to my reading list.:typing

I know the NCLEX test is adaptive to the answers given, but is there a % pass rate required?

The NCLEX is designed that you need to get 50% right the 50% have to be classed as high level. I would suggest you have a good read in the NCSBN website as all information is there re the test as they devised it and monitor it

I cannot seem to find Assessment, priority and delegation by Linda La Charity online, any ideas where to purchase one?
