Hello, this is my 3rd time to take the nclex on july. Do you think i need to enroll at hurst?
Melanie, I really can't suggest what you need to tackle on since I don't know your strengths and weaknesses.
1. Are you good with content? If you know the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the actions if hypertonic, isotonic, hypotonic soln and which occassions would you give them, what does HBa1c have to do with the patient and the normal value of it, in the early stage of renal failure does a patient experience increased urination or decreased urination, type 1 diabetes is related to DKA if so then what is type 2 diabetes related to? what happens if albumin is lacking in the body?
If you don't know half of this you may need to refresh on some content, Im not saying take hurst but you can use saunders as well. But Hurst will def. break them all down for you and I had no regrets in purchasing it.
2. If you are good with content then I would suggest focus solely on question and answers, more importantly on prioritization and delegation, infection control. Focus on Analysis and application type questions. If you don't know what the topic the question is asking, reach for your medsurg book, or research online and learn about that topic. My mom told me, its good to have content but don't focus on it, you won't know all the single details in the book.
I hope you've found some of my suggestions helpful.
Oh yeah! Lab Values!! Memorize them. Theres this really awesome video on youtube where a man relates the lab values to life events. Its pretty neat. For example. hemo globin, hemo sounds like homo=sexuality. at what age do males and females about their sexuality female 12-16 and for men itll be a bit higher 14-18
it's called "lab values for LPN and RN NCLEX" on youtube.
