Just took the test, got 85 questions

Nursing Students NCLEX

I just took my NCLEX PN this morning and I feel awful. :uhoh21: I know this a common feeling after taking the test, and I know that no number can tell you if you passed or not. I just feel like I had to guess on every question. I had a ton of select all that apply questions and all of my pharmacology questions were very difficult. I just have a horrible feeling that I failed. Is it common to fail with 85 questions? Did any of you feel that you had to guess the whole way through? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Well you said it yourself, there is no way of telling if you passed or failed based purely on a number of questions.

I would suggest that you take the day and relax, you'll find out your results shortly.

Best wishes.

i think more people pass than fail at 85 questions. relax. i know its easier said than done :) but go do something fun. good luck with your results.

All the best with the results.

Hi Meg & Welcome!

I'm in EXACTLEY THE SAME BOAT! Just took my test this am also, and like you.....had feeling like I guessed most of the way. A lot of "pick all that apply" and felt like about half of the questions were mainly Pharm....and not the common drugs either!!!

I almost don't want to know my results!

I don't know how many questions I had, but think it was under 100, and anyway I was out of there and on my way home in under 2 hours easily.

Good Luck and try to get a good nights rest!!

Congratulations!! :monkeydance: :flowersfo

Congratulations on passing!!! I am so glad that I read your post. I just took my NCLEX yesterday @ 12:30 and I sat there looking at the computer like I had never been in front of one before. I got lost on the way to the testing site like three times and ended up going to the wrong building. I was so nervous that the lady behind the desk told me to go to the restroom, get some water from the water fountain and calm down for a minute. She was really super nice! I wondered...wow...just how psycho do I look???:uhoh21: I mean, is it that obvious that Im having a TOTAL COME APART? I guess so...Well I did feel that I guessed my whole way through. I was asked questions that I would never have even imagined were on there. I would love to know how you got your results so fast!! I can get mine in 48 hours *business days*. I have logged on the website about twenty times today hoping to see something..anything!!! SOooo I am not alone...did you feel that you had totally bombed it when you walked out the door? Please give me some advice....thanks

hey all !!!!

remember i too felt i failed, seemed as though i guessed at most of the questions/answers..........well, 30 hours after finishing my test - the results were already listed on the board of nursing (to my utter surprise). i'm still numb, it hasen't sank in................i think i was more prepared for failure -- even had sort-of planned my re-test date..................lol!!!

whew!!! am i glad that's over, now on to my rn studies !!

as for any suggestions i may have for nursing students getting ready..................i was sure to get my first nclex book & cd during my first semester in clinicals, think i used lippincott for that. next semester i purchased a saunders book & cd....all along using them as a study aid towards my lecture tests. about 3 weeks before taking the nclex i went out and purchased a mosby's nclex-pn box of 2005 flash cards....and felt they were much harder then any of the others i had used..............even gives you a practice test at the back. think the cost was 30.00 at borders.

what i also think really helped "buy" me a few correct answers was taking the time to study my medical terminology book/cd and being sure to know my pre & suffix's.......i used it often from the beginning of clinicals.

i honestly think that taking any bit of down time (like we actually have any)....during clinicals, to pick up any nclex materials and make good use of that time....many months ahead of the actual test.

also our class took the ati test after finals and it outlines your strengths & weaknesses...........if you read all that information you'll see where you need to concentrate!

good luck and thanks for your support!
