Alternate format questions and SATA on NCLEX... How many for you?

I was told about 6 alternate formats would be on NCLEX. I am just wondering what happened to my test because I kept count in my mind and had 33 SATA, 2 fill in the blank, 2 drag and drops and one lab results question. That comes out to 38 alternate format out of 75 questions. I passed and got my license in the mail last week but friends who haven't taken it keep telling me they don't believe that there was that many or that I was exaggerating... I was sick because literally every other question almost was SATA. Is this a new thing, was it a fluke? I am trying to help a friend study and I keep telling her she better get on her SATAs. Why so many?

Mine was the same as you except I had more actually. A lot of the alternative format questions are the highest level questions, but there are also passing level questions that aren't alternative format types. You can still pass the exam without being as "high up" as all of those alternative format questions. Some people might not get that many correct in a row to consistently be at the constant SATA etc. So that is why some people may only get 8 and others can get over 30. Most of my friends had over 30 SATA
