NCLEX California Testing Advice, Recent Philippine Grad 2011

Published

Hi!

I just graduated this April of 2011 at University of Perpetual Help-GMA Cavite, Philippines with a BSN Bachelor of Science Nursing.

My husband called the California Board of nursing a few months ago to confirm if I need to take the local boards here in the Philippines because what my clinical instructors said that the requirements now is different from before. So, I wanted to confirm it. And what the nursing board said that NO need to because it will not carry over in any way to USA and is not a requirement for taking the NCLEX in USA. Maybe because I'm a USA green card holder plus I have SSN, also ready to do my USA citizenship this summer. I'm from bay area northern California, Milpitas

I am returning to California in early June and wanted to see if anyone has experience similar to me? Is their anything I need to do here in the Philippines before I return to USA?? So I can apply for the NCLEX with as little hassle as possible.

  1. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? Anything at my University before I leave?
  2. What do I need to BRING with me? FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO APPLY for NCLEX when I return to USA. Or will the university do everything necessary?
  3. Do you have any idea or suggestions or maybe graduated from GMA or another Philippine university? An can please describe your experience.

Thank you for any ideas and suggestions:D

California board of nursing website still requires a copy of license from the country where you were educated. What i know is that even if you are a greencard/permanent resident of the U.S., you still have to take the Philippine exam. The only reason that others don't have to take the exam is if they are NOT philippine citizen. If you're a US Greencard holder, you ARE STILL a Philippine Citizen and are ELIGIBLE to take the local board exam, and therefore must take the exam. That's what I understand. Unless you maybe wait till you're a US citizen, then you can say you're not a Philippine citizen and not eligible to sit for the local boards.

if she has dual citizenship may be. then she can sit in the philippine nurse licesnure exam
