Hi everyone!!! I am taking the NCLEX for the first time today at 12:00 pm in Milpitas, CA. I'm freaking out! I could really use some prayers!!! ☺ All I keep thinking is that I made it through nursing school and that was super hard so if I can get through that then I can surely tackle the NCLEX and pass ? I know God has a plan for me and I need to remain faithful and go into this test with confidence!!!Is anyone else taking the NCLEX anytime soon???Once I know the results I'll post them :)Ps. Good news so far is that every person I went to school with has passed so far!!! Woohoo!
i have personally never heard of it shutting off at 75 and someone actually failing. this would be with absolutely minimal nursing competencies. After 4 years of school... not possible!!!
I'm really happy for the OP, it's great she passed....but I wanted to catch you on this before you make someone feel REALLY cruddy: I absolutely, 100% assure you that I have seen, heard of, and known people for whom 75 questions before shutoff meant they had failed. That was after two years (ADN) and four years (BSN).
You're right: it's a minimum competency that is tested (regardless of the number of questions). And stopping at the minimum of 75 questions does mean that the computer recognizes that no matter how many questions it gives the test-taker, he will not pass. So yes, it is relatively rare compared with the number who fail after taking many more questions (and therefore it took longer for the computer to determine the test-taker was not competent).
Just please, don't tell people that it's not possible to fail in 75 questions; because YOU'VE never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. People even write about it here on this forum...but are less likely to seek help if they think people might not believe them.
Thank you everyone!!! I can't believe I passed!!! All the prayers and positive energy was amazing... It definitely helped to know I had people wishing me well and praying for me!!! . The allnurses community is so awesome
What state are you in and did you get your official results yet either by phone or web? I took mine yesterday in New York and hope I get the results today or tomorrow. Let me know when you receive the official word!
@RNsRWe, Sorry if I provided information that was inaccurate. I was just trying to give nursebride some confidence. I knew the odds were in her favor. You are right however, and I certainly don't want to make anyone feel CRUDDY and/or not want to post/share NCLEX worries and concerns. Please forgive me this is a wonderful site and I'am grateful to have you all. Congrats again nursebride!!!!!

No worries, no harm done, nothing to forgive. It's just that I've spent several years here, dispelling alot of NCLEX myths (my, nothing like a life-changing exam to get the crazy stories going!) and this jumped out at me.
Congrats to all who have been successful, and best wishes to those who still need them :)
@iheartNICUI used ATI review in person and online- along with practice tests. I used Saunders and NCLEX 4000. I also had four mobile iPhone apps I was using on the go- ATI NCLEX Mentor, Saunders NCLEX-RN mobile Q's, Lippincotts Review for RN, Kaplan NCLEX-RN Mini-q bank. I spent about a month studying. Since I moved to California recently and haven't been able to find a job yet- I made studying my full time job. I spent 2 weeks studying for about 6-8 hours a day. I would do about 225-300 questions a day, read through my study guides, and watch virtual ATI review course. I can say that doing the questions certainly helped the most- in fact- one of the questions I saw on NCLEX was very similar to a question I had seen while studying. But what are the odds of that? It was really weird and random.Really the test is about being mentally and physically prepared. I never really thought too much about this but it really is all mental! The day before the test i printed my ATT and put both my DL and letter in the car so there was no chance if firgetting them. Then my husband and I drove to the testing site. I walked around the building- was familiar with the site. We did something fun- went to dinner and then came home and watched our favorite show. We went to bed early- I only got about 6 hours because of nerves. In the morning I had breakfast and did my normal routine. I tried to relax by watching TV and talking to a good friend. I left early and got to the testing site about an hour early. I really tried to lessen my stress level before the test. I said a prayer and during the test if I got too overwhelmed I would take a deep breath and try to focus. I just tried to stay positive and tell myself that I had it- that I could do it. Positive energy and confidence really helped.
