I understand it's less than most places but it actually works out very well for me. Any idea why this hospital dies 8's now? I was told that there is lots of opportunity to get extra hours, so ill probably do that to make a little extra. My husband and I own a home in the east bay so I won't be paying rent to anyone.

That's ridiculous. Where I work the nurses and techs must keep their phones on until 7:30 and then it becomes the responsibility of the oncoming shift nurses and techs after that time. The techs should not be turning their phones in until their shift is officially over.

I'm kind of starting the new year traveling :). I start my first assignment December 9- March 8! I'll miss my friends and family but I'm so excited to meet new people and see different parts of the country!

It took them 3 1/2 weeks to issue my license last year. The CA BRN is so understaffed and slow I called them after 3 weeks and they said my evaluator had been on vacation for two weeks and unless I had changed my name then I couldn't have a new evaluator. Lucky for me I had just gotten married the month before and drove my marriage license to Sacramento to change my name. I had my license number 2 days later :)

Hi everyone! I am taking my first travel assignment in Palm Springs this winter! I will be at Desert Regional December 9- March 8. I'm being given $1100 a month for housing stipend but am having difficulties finding accommodations that are reasonably priced. Does anyone have any ideas or can steer me in the right direction to find housing? Is anyone else going out there this winter and want a roommate? Also, any tips on what to expect at the hospital- orientation, environment? What to see or do in Palm Springs? Any help would be much appreciated!!! :) :)
