Anyone on here trying to get in to the ADN program at Neosho County in Ottawa?
I was wondering if someone could answer a question regarding the application process. I noticed that a couple of you mentioned not getting points for a class taken the summer after applying, would you have received the points if you had taken that class during the spring (even though the application is due before the end of the semester)?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question. Good luck to you all!
I had exactly the same question. From what the administrative assistant for the program told me, YES, you will receive credit towards your application for those pre-reqs you take in the spring semester. Anything taken in the summer, after the selection process, will not count towards admissions, unless, of course they select you as an alternate. Then they would probably take in to account any pre-reqs you took over the summer. So, my advice to you would be to have all of the pre-reqs done, or in progress, at the time you turn in your application.
After I found this information out last December it forced me to take A&P, Micro, and Nutrition for the spring semester. I came out with all A's but it was quite a bit of work. Now I'm anxiously waiting to see if all the hard work paid off.

I also applied at NCCC-Ottawa. I've been stalking the mailbox as well! I have all the pre-reqs done and scored a 91 composite on the TEAS. I know of 8 people that scored 90+. The vast majority of people I talked to scored 70 or below so I think you should be fine with an 87. You won't get the points for taking Micro this summer but your test score is definitely competitive. I do know they received roughly 210 applicants this year. I will let you know when the letter arrives![/quote']It's good to see a few more people on this thread! I also scored a 91% on the TEAS test, with all my pre-reqs done I am extremely hopeful and praying I get an acceptance letter this go round. Last year I got an alternate letter but my score was much lower and I still had to take micro. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.
I'm not really sure how I feel. I kind of like being able to flip through a text book, but like the idea of not carrying around such heavy books. It would give me an excuse to have to buy a iPad, but I would also be afraid of it breaking. So basically, I'm on the fence :-) What about you? I did see they added the iPad to the price layout online, but it does say optional. So maybe we will get a choice.
I feel the same way, on the fence, because I like the idea of not having to lug all the books around but in a weird way I think doing that is part of nursing school! (Haha) I already have an iPad but I am a novice when it comes to ebooks. I know you can view the power points and take notes on them but I don't really know how to do that.
I feel the same as both of you about the iPad eBooks. There's definitely pros/cons to both. If you search around on AN you'll see a lot of schools are going to all eBooks. Some people love them, others not so much. I think it will all depend on the application used to view the eBooks. I hope we get the option to purchase the regular textbook as well. I know I will be purchasing physical copies of a nursing diagnoses book, a drug book, and an NCLEX study book at the bare minimum.
I just took a look at the updated cost sheet for Ottawa. It looks like they raised costs across the board, but the program is still very affordable. Looks like the whole program will be about $12k. I did notice that none of the semesters are over 11 credit hours. I think to qualify for full financial aid you have to take at least 12 credit hours per semester. Just something to think about. I'll probably add in a BSN pre-req every semester so I can transition directly to an RN-BSN program after graduation.
As soon as we all get our acceptance letters it would be a good time to start getting our immunization records, health insurance, etc. lined out. Here's the link for the immunization policy: http://www.neosho.edu/Portals/0/Departments/nursing/files/Immunization%20Policy.pdf

I am so glad I saw this thread! I'm applying to NCCC Ottawa during the next application cycle.
