NCC nursing program

Has anyone been accepted to Ncc's nursing program. If so, how hard is it, and are you able to work while in the program?

Congrats ChrisRyan!! And NYCGuy86, that's a good strategy, taking courses that will help accelerate an rn-bsn program! Thanks for the idea :-)

Got my letter some time this weekend. I got accepted. I live in Queens but have a apartment at in Suffolk as a Stony Brook student, so I was in Queens this weekend. I assumed it arrived on Saturday. Applied for the Day program with a 3.5 GPA and a 72 on the TEAS. I also got my Associates from NCC, so Im assuming that helped!

I applied for night...theres a few of us still waiting. i hope i get it tomorrow because i saw someone else from queens got it yesterday for days as well.

are you racing home today? This is the first day that i will not have someone checking the mail for me, so i have to wait til after 3! if you get home before me let me know if they even freakin came in !!!

Lol I actually have class right after work so I won't be home until after 5! I'm going to be such a hot mess lol

Just spoke with the department, they said they sent out all the mail, day, night, rejection and acceptance letters together (CRAZY). She said if it is not in the mail today to call them so they can resend another letter. She also said she can not give any info over the phone. Im thinking ill get home at 345 and if its not there i have AP at 630, ill just run over to the nursing department and see whats going on. Ill be sure to let you know. Maybe Tammacita will be home before all of us.....

as for being a hot mess, I'm very close to calmly losing my *@&!.

I will be leaving work as soon as I am told the letter is there (someone is home), if it's not. I will let you guys know it didn't come.

No prob. Yeah, I think we should see how to get our BSNs as quickly as possible (though not too quickly since we still need to do well in the program, haha). I think I'll ask at the meeting about that (as far as taking a class like patho to transfer into a BSN program). Also, I see in the class schedule that the nursing classes are 4 days a week, so it's probably best not to take more than one or two extra classes so we can focus on doing well.

Is everyone here planning on attending?

i agree with the trying not to over load with classes. I'm going to take the prereqs for RN to BS programs during the winter and summer sessions. I was also reading from NYU that some programs require you to be working for a year before you get into the program. Ill throw my ultimate dream out there... I want to go to Columbia, they have one of the best midwifery programs in NY.... being that it is a masters program i clearly have time. I figure i will really focus with just the nursing classes each semester and bust my butt to keep my GPA above a 3.75. I also am not sure that i would be able to squeeze other classes in with my jobs.... who knows. Right now I'm just hoping for one letter:snurse:

I agree, that sounds like a good idea, to do it during the summer and winter sessions. I was thinking about taking a class or two during the summer (and one of the other schools I'm applying to said that I would need to take one last pre-req over the summer), but now...I think I just wanna relax, lol.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in Columbia for grad school as well. I'm thinking Acute Care NP. But yeah, that's way later for us :). All I know is I think the best thing to do is save our money with the undergrad by going to NCC/SUNY/CUNY for ADN and BSN, then go big for grad school later on.

Good luck today! If they sent all letters out, you've GOTTA get something today! If still no, I'd def stop in the nursing office and see if they could just let you know there, like show your ID or something.
