How's it going Brian,
I am also attempting to put a package together for the FY18 MECP. I was just wondering where are you stationed, how many years do you have in, have you started doing volunteer work?
I am stationed on the JEB Little Creek/Fort Story base in Virginia. I have 6 years in and I am an LS. I am looking at volunteering for the Virginia Beach Rescue squad because I will get the hands on experience and it is a little more unique than a hospital setting. If anyone with more knowledge thinks otherwise please let me know.
Also, if you're stationed in VA maybe we could work together for our MECP applications. I plan to apply for the ODU nursing program so if anyone has any insight for their program and especially for the MECP route, I would love to hear it! I need to get the majority of the science classes that are prerequisites done before I turn my application in. Thanks again for any and all advice!
Very respectful,
Cody Orr

The results of the FY-18 MECP came out recently, here they are... http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/reference/messages/Documents/NAVADMINS/NAV2017/NAV17019.txt
I found out that I was not selected. Now I need to make a decision on applying again or getting out. This will be tough. Do you still plan on applying for FY-19?
For MECP, you should really start now as far as getting everything in order. You will need to get an interview with your CO. In addition you will need to do a board with 3 officers (1 of which needs to be an RN). I would highly suggest the members of your board be 0-4 or higher or if 0-3, they should be nurses. Have you already been to the website and looked at all the requirements? Also I applied last year and didn't get accepted. I was told most people don't get accepted after 1 try. So no matter what I would apply this year, even if you feel you are not ready. This way it would be your 1st attempt, then next year your package will be improved and you will have a better chance.

Hello Everyone!
First off, thanks for taking the time to read this! I understand the Navy's Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program (MECP) is a recurring topic on this forum, but I haven't seen any related threads within the past couple years.
I'm active duty (Enlisted) and I'm looking to make a pretty significant career change from my current job to hopefully commissioning via MECP to become an RN after schooling, of course.
As I work to get my package together for the FY18 submission deadline which is around May-Jun 2017 at my command, I'm seeking any guidance or mentorship from someone who has essentially "been there, done that."
I'd love to know about your experience as a Navy Nurse in general or with the MECP process in particular. Any and all input is welcome as I prepare to begin applying through this great program.
I look forward to your feedback!
