Does anybody know if you must have your BSN to become a navy nurse? I already have a B.S. in biology and want to get my ADN and become an R.N. that way. Will this satisfy the navy's requirements?

It may affect what rank you can achieve. The last thing I heard a couple of years ago was that you could go in with an associates but they kept you at a lower rank like a warrant officer, until you got your BSN, then they would advance you to Ensign, Lt, etc. With so few people entering the military these days, best to talk to a recruiter.

I'm in the Army and am looking at transferring into the Army Nurse Corps, and as an Officer, the Army requires you to have your BSN.(I'm looking at an Accelerated BSN program.) I would think the Navy would be similar, but you could enlist and because of your undergrad degree, you would be a few enlisted ranks higher because of it.

My nephew informed me today that he will be entering the Navy in April to undergo training to BECOME a nurse. He has no college level coursework. He told me he will be trained to the equivalent of a LPN. He also reported that he would have an opportunity to work towards a degree while in the Navy and have it paid for.
Hope this helps and Good luck!
Let me clarify.... In order to be an OFFICER in the navy a nurse must be a BSN.

Right now, all Active Duty Branches must have a BSN to be commissioned as a nurse. The Army Reserve, however, still will commission you with an ADN, but I believe you must complete your BSN in a set amount of time.

Snickett, I have heard that as well about the Army reserve allowing you a commission with an ADN, I am seriously thinking about that. I have a total of 8 years between active and reserve and only need 12 more for a retirement benefit. I also know that they will pay for my step up program that I want to attend.
I have heard that there is nursing shortage in the navy as well as other branches. I would definately talk to the officer recruiter with a medical speciality as far as their requirements.
