Navy MECP: Active Duty Marine to Navy Nurse Questions

Hi everyone and thank you for any input/advice.

I am currently an active duty Marine participating in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP). My initial plan was to get out in September of 2014, go to Med school and join the navy (after 10 years of service) but I was selected for MECEP and chose to stay in. I am currently a nursing student at an accredited university and would like to pursue a career in the medical field.

My question is this:

What programs does anyone know of to do an inter-service transfer to the Navy as a nurse?

I have looked at the Navy Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program (MECP) and will be submitting a package this coming year (unfortunately I found out too late this year) but am hoping that since I have already been selected into MECEP (Marine Corps not Navy) and am currently in nursing school with a 4.0 GPA I might be able to put together some type of meritorious selection package or something. I know there has to be a way but I haven't found the right person yet. Again, I appreciate any help/guidance in advance.

One final question, if anyone has successfully applied to the Navy MECP and could help me with my package I would greatly appreciate it.

You need to speak with a career consular about this. When you got picked up for MECEP did you have to pick a designated career field? If it was nursing it should just be a paperwork drill. To find out about an inter service transfer the Marine Regulations should have something in it.

MECEP (not to be confused with Navy MECP) is similar to signing a re-enlistment. In the Marine Corps, we do not get designated career fields until The Basic School (TBS) which is after commissioning. I know how to submit an inter-service transfer but I am looking at specifically doing nursing.
