I have 2 years experience on a telemetry floor and I have a BSN. I am thinking about joining the military, but am indecisive between the Navy or Air Force. I am also indecisive with whether I should join active or reserves. I am single, no kids or husband/boyfriend. I feel like this is a great point in my life to join. I am talking to a recruiter for both sides next week, but wanted to get some input before I walk through the door. Any advice?
i would check with either af or navy recruiters about bonus because that changes from time to time.
i agree with the other posts that it depends on your preferences.
i know when i was trying to decide i made a list of things important to me like base location, overseas locations, training, promotion opportunities. then when i met with the different recruiters i left them and wrote notes on each. i was able to eliminate until i got to my choice. all branches have the same basics, education requirements, retirement, health care and benefits.
Tzu, lol - well put - by comparing to a Honda commercial....I'm assuming you are about to start your junior year or nursing and that you are leaning towards navy? Or are you still looking into other branches...?

Thanks v/r. Actually I'm in an ADN program and can't be considered by the armed forces, as I was told. But if I could do it, yes Navy would be my top choice.

Tzu-do a BSN completion program and come on. What are you waiting for? You can start your paperwork 12 mos from grad and have a slot waiting for you. For real, you will never have opportunities as a civillian like you will in uniform, and have the blast of your life while you're at it!!!

Thanks folks. Yes, there are inconsistent information being posted by me and I do apologize for that.
I went to Navy's website and I'm just gonna cut and paste it to you guys here:
Navy Nurse Candidate Program-Receive up to $34,000 for nursing school, including:
source: http://www.navy.com/healthcareopportunities/nursecorps/#nursing-students
Having pasted that, the navy scholarship might be as competitive as the other 2 branches. But I can't say for sure, since it's just online info. Honda's TV ad offers $299 per month for the new Accord but the local dealership offers $199 per month. So it really boils down to what the individual is finally offered by the recruiter. Hustle hustle ladies and boys. If my recruiter ever gets back to me, I'll share it with you guys.
