Are there any other's planning to apply to NAU's traditional BSN for the Tucson campus for this fall? I just moved back to AZ after a year in Iowa and was planning on doing U of A's 2nd degree program but since it changed to an MSN and the estimated cost is 40K I have switched gears. I actually just discovered that NAU has the Tucson program and I am so glad I did. My back up plan after I decided U of A's program was a crock (IMHO) was Pima. Since I already have a BA in English and Pima's wait is so long that wasn't an ideal situation either.
So, looks like I have everything complete except the HESI A2 and maybe nutrition. I'm just finishing NTS154 at Pima but it doesn't look like that class will transfer for the nutrition requirement. I'm going to fight that though because Rio Salado has a 200 level nutrition that uses the exact same text and has the same course outline as the class I just took at Pima.
Well - good luck to everyone. Maybe I'll see you in a classroom in the fall.

Yay Jenbilla. I think that makes six of us. I CAN. NOT. WAIT. for April to get here already. I looked into Pima too. I finally decided to put all my eggs in one basket. I figured with NAU taking aps every semester even if I don't get in this semester I'm bound to get in before my number would come up at Pima. Plus, I have a BA already so it'll only take me one extra semester to do the BSN vs the ADN.Hope we see each other in the fall:coollook:.
Does ADN , stand for ADVANCED DIPLOMA NURSING, if not which one is it please, and does NAU mean Northern Arizona University, and just in case you are wondering why Iam asking is because I am trying to get a handle on american jargon. much obliged to you,
OH AND YES,if any ads come through with this , its not intentional as someone has hooked one to my emailing.
So the advisor in Tucson said the hold will come off of my account if I am accepted to the program. No mention of when decisions will be made. The waiting continues.
Are any of the rest of you taking pathology/ pathophysiology outside of the program. I'm taking pathophysiology from Rio Salado right now and am kinda wishing I hadn't done it now. It soooo much information and I'm doing it in eight weeks.
Mighty k, the class is ok but you have to be an independent learner. Basically you have the text and the text book publishers website. The only graded work are quizzes and a two part cumulative final. There is a quiz on each unit (5-6 chapters per unit). Each quiz is 30-40 questions. The questions are a mix of basics and nit picky things that don't seem to be covered anywhere. But you can take each quiz as many times as you want. You can only take the exams once but it doesn't appear tp be timed.
My problem is that eight weeks doesn't seem to be enough time to learn all this stuff. After struggling to cover the material as thoroughly as possible in a week I've decided I just need to do what I have to do to get an A and get done and then I'll spend the summer actually learning it. There are no due dates except the final but you need to cover a unit or two 200-600 pages- in a week to say on target.
I've heard mixed reviews on NAU's patho though so I don't know if I'm any worse off for doing it this way. I just have to make sure I take the time to really learn the material once the class is done.

Ok I am relieved to know that I haven't been enied just yet. I got a call today saying they were missing information from my app. Turns out some how they didn't have my hessi score and they needed it. It is now faxed and the wait continues. I'm pretty sure that they would need to review everyones information before decisions have been made.
