Hi everyone. Since applications are due in a week, I thought I would create a thread for Northern Arizona University's 2017 ABSN application cycle. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hello! I am applying to NAUs traditional BSN program. I take my Kaplan next week. Any insight on things to focus on for the neurology portion of the science section?

I remember it being pretty general and basic for the neurology. I recommend that you have a basic understanding on the functions and responsibilities of each lobe and major areas like the brain stem and hypothalamus. Also the basic physiology of CNS/PNS and neurons. I thought that the science section was pretty straight forward, especially if you have taken AP recently. I scored an 89 on it. The Kaplan book was so terrible as study source for this section. Good luck!
Thank you so much!! I took A&P 2 last semester but took A&P 1 over a year ago, which is why I am stressing the nervous system I guess! Lol. For sensory do you recommend studying things about the eyes, ears, nose, and where the sensations are processed in the brain? Or just know which type of sensory receptors do what?

Hey everyone. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am in a bit of a dilemma regarding bio 320 (gen path). It's my only prerequisite course that I have listed as planned/in progress. I had planned on taking it online through the 8 week course starting 3/20/17. I didn't want to enroll early, unless I knew I was getting in, since the course is about $2000 and also because I'm still waiting on my university application to be approved. Now the course has filled up. As far as I can tell, it seems to be equivalent to most pathophysiology courses. Has anyone taken an equivalent elsewhere or used pathophysiology to satisfy the requirement? Also, has anyone called and made changes to their application after it was submitted? I emailed them, but I'm not sure when I'll hear back and I'm stressed.
Yes, an advisor told me that Human pathophysiology 218 at the Flagstaff local community college would satisfy this requirement. However, when I took it they only offer a full semester course fall/spring. Good luck!
Hi everyone. Just received an acceptance email. Good luck to everyone!
Im in as well! so exciting! Did you figure out the pathology course?
Congrats! I did. After seeing your post I checked and I am able to take an equivalent eight week course online through one of the junior colleges. Thank you!

Hi! I was curious what your Kaplan score and pre-req gpa was? Do they look at in progress work as a worse score? I got an 85 on Kaplan and 1 B on the pre-req and 1 in progress class and got an email that I am on their alternative list.
Hello! I had a 4.0 in the prerequisites with one class in progress and a 91 on the Kaplan. Good luck! From reading previous cohort threads, a lot of people get off of the waitlist and your stats are really good, so I wouldn't worry.
Okay, just more waiting now I guess! Congrats on your acceptance!

Hello! I have been accepted to the program as well (pending completion of one course). I will be moving from Washington and would love any advise on living in Flagstaff.
