Anyone starting this April? Have you received the orientation info yet?
I'm only applying to the NU program as CSUSM would take me twice as long to fulfill the pre-requisites. They require a foreign language pre-req. and you can either test out or take 2 or 4 classes (depending on your comfort level from undergrad degree). I had two years of Spanish for my undergrad degree almost 10 years ago...not fluent at all and I would definitely have to take a years worth for their program. They also require a couple of additional classes that NU doesn't require. In all I figured I would have to complete 6 classes plus the foreign language before even applying...not worth it to me right now. As far as I know you can apply for any cohort at NU as there are 4 per year, one each quarter (not completely sure though). I'm looking at next year's cohort only because I still have 3 classes to take. They may admit you without all pre-req's completed, they only have to be completed by the time your cohort starts.
Hi, I am starting my application process with National University, just curious what type of GPA do they usually accept? If anyone knows....Thanks
People I know have been accepted with 3.4+, but thats not a written rule, so good luck!
I submitted my application to NU in San Diego in Jan. '08; I received my acceptance letter in March '08. My start date is Jan. '09, however contingent on the completion of my remaining pre-reqs.
My stats:
3.9-3.95 GPA (cant recall exact)
I did fairly well on the Accuplacer, but poorly on the second math segment as I placed into Math 12B (remedial class), however the advisor said it shouldn't be a big deal.
As long as you can comprehend English fairly well, I think you will be fine.
Starting Sept '08 the requirements to get into the program is being changed, I think overall for the best. Currently if you are not accepted, you do not know why. After the requirements go into effect I think they will give you a reason, as it will be a known point system.
Congrats to all those who get accepted. I hope to see you there!

hi ctriana896!
i actually just got accepted into national university and my stats weren't extremely well. my prereq gpa was only about 3.2, and my overall gpa is about 3.6.
something that you might want to include in your application packet are letters of reccomendations. my friend told me that it doesn't hurt to add them in and so i did...and i got in :)
also, my nu admissions counselor told me to take the accuplacer test more than once to show that youhave more initiative in improving your scores. hope this helps and good luck! :wink2:
Ok, that sounds a bit better. I am trying to apply to the Post Bachelor's program for the BSN, and I am in progress right now taking the science pre-req's there, which I am fortunate enough to have 100% paid for with a tuition assistance account for military spouses, but after that I will have run out of money and have to take out more loans to cover the actual Nursing portion of it. I somehow got $60k which is quite a bit. It made me panic. lol. I suppose I need to ask my counselor. Thank You for the info.

Hi,
I am planning to apply to the Accelerated BSN program. I have been turned down by a few entry-level masters programs already and am waiting decisions on a couple others. I am thinking of putting a few more irons in the fire just in case. I just sent the head faculty person an e-mail asking her whether we can start the program at any time (as opposed to conventional colleges where they start only once or twice a year) and how long will it take to receive a decision. Have you looked into other programs as well? CSU San Marcos has a brand new accelerated BSN program.
