National University, SD October 2015 Cohort 44

U.S.A. California

Published

Anyone applying for the ABSN in National University in San Diego for the October cohort. I just took my TEAS and did not do very well. I trying to find out if I am able to retake the TEAS to better my score and submit that before the start date in October.

Anyone out there applying for the same program know, or anyone that's been through it have any information on how it works? I've e-mail the nursing department but it seems really hard to get feedback at a descent amount of time.

Thank You!

Congrats heyhop. The last email said if you were accepted you'd get another email in the next few days detailing what happens next and when. Good luck.

Thank you, breezykels, I've just received it! :)

So I browse here every so often and came upon this. I also just was accepted into cohort 44. Do you guys want to become friends on facebook and make a group maybe? That way we can all help each other with the process. My name is Christopher Ordonez. Add me if you guys want. The picture is 3 people- a woman on the left, me on the right and my daughter in the middle.

Congrats to you all!! If you don't mind me asking... What were your guys TEAS scores, GPA, and Essay scores?! Trying to get an idea if I even have a chance next cohort. Thanks!

Well I had a 3.63 Core GPA and a 84 TEAS. Not sure about the essay; I asked my advisor a few weeks ago because I was told they could check and I wanted to calculate the points to see if I was close but she told me to be patient and didn't tell me anything :/

3.63 GPA = 36.3 points

84 TEAS =33.6 points

essay =???

Since the last few cohorts were around 82-84 I had to score around 12.1-14.1 minimum for the essay. But that's just based off past cohorts. No idea what the cut off was this time.

Thanks for the reply Cordonez, really helps me get an idea of where I should be at. I got an email from ** with the breakdown of my scores and I really just need to improve my TEAS, which is understandable since I got a 68 on it. He said the cut-off score or lowest accepted score for this cohort was 81.85. Anyways, congrats to you and everyone that got in!!! Better luck for me next time!

My core gpa was 3.3 and I got 88% on the TEAs. I must have done really well on the essay since my GPA wasn't very high. I studied the TEAs book everyday for a whole month before taking the test. Videos on YouTube also helped a lot. There is a post here on allnurses.com that highlighted important topics you should focus on for the test so check that out too.

Thanks Jean.ren for the response! Where on allnurses did you find the highlighted parts to study? Or what did you write in the little search box?

Hope this helps, Ednies! Best of luck and happy studying!

Hey Ednies. When he said the cutoff was 81.85. Was that the overall score or the teas cutoff was 81.85? My score without the essay should have been 71 (just gpa and teas) which means I must have bombed my essay. That is shocking to me because I typically so very well with essays. I sent an email asking for a breakdown. I am trying to decide if I even want to reapply. I may just apply to SDSU and CSUSM since they are so much cheaper. I am also applying to UCSD for microbiology since that is not an impacted program. It just sucks to have to wait an entire year to start any of those programs if I get accepted.

Thanks Jean.ren, I'll check it out!

Hey Breezykels, from my understand... I think he meant overall. But are you calculating your overall GPA or your science GPA? Also, maybe you didn't bomb your essay... Maybe it was just the luck of the draw? I think if it would take a year for you to start your other programs why not just apply to next cohort and see how it goes? You never know... Maybe we'll have better luck next cohort! Well hopefully ** will be able to give you the breakdown of your scores and explain why you didn't make it! Good luck to us both for next time!!

Hi Ednies. My science and math gpa is 3.9. I will probably reapply as well. I'm going to retake the teas and study this time. I know I can bring my score up into the 90's if I study. The reason I was considering not reapplying is because I won't be able to start until April. The other programs start next fall so it's less than 6 months difference and Id save probably 30 thousand dollars. But I now I'm thinking I'll at least apply to the next cohort that way I'll hopefuly have some options. Good luck next cohort!
