Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.
Thanks
I'm about to start NSG 422 (Nursing Research) in October 2011. Anyone have any input on how this class is structured weekly, and who might be teaching it? I'm aware there are three quizzes, one final, one big paper, and weekly discussion boards. I'm just curious when general due dates are (are quizzes open all weekend, or on any particular day? etc, etc), as I am needing to make a crucial out-of-town trip/meeting during that month, and I want to plan wisely so I don't get stuck with having to pull over on the side of the road and try to find WiFi to take a quiz - ha! From one future RN colleague to another, thank you.
Hi all! Just signed up for this forum today, I spent all day yesterday looking through all the conversations and it was nice to see that every ones not alone in all of this. I'm currently taking my LAST pre-req course (ILR260) at NU to apply for the Generic BSN program. I was just curious for those who are already or have been in the program, what was the lowest GPA you heard someone receive that actually got accepted? I've done fairly well with all my sciences and with NSG and currently have an A in ILR but when I first started college a few years back I didn't do so well with my GE's which I regret now. I'm close to a 3.0 GPA but not quite there. Everyone here seems to have above 3.5 GPA's and its really bringing my hopes down. I just recently took a TEAS test review class at my community college and have been studying for the TEAS like crazy. I sign up for the April 2012 Cohort when I finish this week. But as I read on to what every one is saying I feel like my chances are slim in getting in. I know that the minimum GPA requirement is a 2.75 which I am above that, do you think I would still have a chance?
Hi Adrie,
Have you been to a Nursing Forum yet? They give a really good break down of National's point system. They only count your core sciences and NSG 322 for GPA purposes (30%) . They also take into consideration repetition of core courses (20%). When people talk about their GPA's they're usually only referring to the points National counts, not their entire transcript. If you've taken any your core sciences at National, you have a pretty good idea of how you rank against fellow applicants.
I honestly think the TEAS (30%) and Essay (20%) are what set people apart from the rest. I'm not sure what criteria National uses to determine the "tie-breakers". Hopefully that eases your concerns. Good luck on your application.
Hello all! I'm glad I found this NU nursing forum and that i'm not alone on this journey! Anyway, I'm an NU student who wants to apply in January 2012 for the generic program. I have most of my prereqs done (currently finishing Micro/lab) and will be attending the forum in November. My question is for those who are in the program, was was your GPA in the core classes? Have you heard or is a person who has gotten in with an average GPA in the core classes? Thanks!
