Hey I wanted to start this thread, since one hasn't been created yet.
I'm applying to this cohort. This will be my second attempt.
Math/Sci GPA 3.8
TEAS 88.7% (planning a retake before the application deadline)
They take the Top 40 applicants and have 10 alternates. Last time I received an interview, and was placed on the alternates list. But no one (or not enough people) dropped out of the program so I didn't make it in.
Good Luck friends!
Hi everyone,
I received my acceptance email and I am so excited to meet you all and get started. I started a facebook group in case anyone wants to connect! Here is the link:

I have been applying to nursing programs for 3 years, and this is my second time applying to National. For those who haven't been accepted yet, don't give up! You can do this!

congratulations! you deserve this!
also ure a genius for creating a fb group LOL thank you!!
Yes! For the ones who hasn’t gotten in, don’t give up. My Stats were 3.5 GPA, 91.3% TEAS, with 7 years experience. 3rd time applying. If you don’t get the first time, apply again (but also improve on which needs to be higher - GPA or TEAS.) Also, don’t place all your eggs in one basket. Apply everywhere, don’t let one rejection discourage you from being a nurse. You guys all got potential! Just don’t give up and keep pushing. ?
Interview wise for future applicants:
Questions they asked me were
1) what is diversity in nursing?
2) what are effective ways of communication in nursing?
3) why do you want to be a nurse?
4) what did you choose national?
5) describe professionalism in nursing?
then they go over your resume. For the ones who are in the process of applying, NU focuses on your science core classes (anatomy, physiology, micro, stats, writing class (not sure what the proper course name is.) Do well on those, but also do good on your general courses as well. Don’t forget to attend the nursing forum too! (It expires each year.)
Goodluck to all of us!!
Can’t wait to meet you guys.
& who ever made the fb cohort account, thank you! ?
Hi Cohort 70! I just applied to Cohort 71 and have an interview 6/15, woo! I'm coming here because I am curious if anyone of you got in to your Cohort with no med experience? I feel like everyone applying has some and I am scared that that will be my deal breaker. I have TONS of customer service experience and have been a licensed esthetician for 9 years, working mostly in holistic esthetics. I feel like being an esthetician, I have a good amount of experience and knowledge, but not sure they'd look at it that way? I do have 15 hours volunteering at a Retirement Community, but that's back from 2016 so not even sure if that'd be worth it??
My stats are 3.8 and 81.3% - second time applying, first time getting an interview!
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

ayyyy congratulations ?
if I’m not mistaken, I don't think having/not having any medical experience could actually affect your application but your background definitely sounds like a good deal of experience to me!
good luck on your interview ?

There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.
One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.
Two: create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page. Then click on “Create A New Club” in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.
References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.
Thank you.
