Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.
I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

They have a Zoom meeting with a representative from the company that will be supplying the scrubs. There will be an order form that you will need to fill out and turn in. Typically this is done in person but you know, COVID haha you'll need to take your own body measurements and pick what size in tops and bottoms you fall into. They go over how to take measurements and all that too for those who aren't familiar. We ordered back in May and we have gotten no word when they are ready for pickup. Good thing we don't need them for the first class!
Books you order maybe a week or 2 before your class actually begins. I would wait on getting them too early just incase they decide to change for whatever reason (or if they list a book that has a code for online, but you don't actually need it). National supplies you with 2 sets of scrubs and a jacket I believe, plus a supply bag with things you'll need for lab. What will happen is when the scrubs, ID badge, and lab bag are ready, you'll get an email for a date/dates and times to pick them up at the RB campus.
We were told a stethoscope is included in the lab bag but older cohorts say it's not good quality at all. Best to get a Littman. Most students get the Littman Classic III. Only buy from authorized sellers though, beware Amazon! There are reviews saying people ordered from Amazon and ended up with fakes/knockoffs. I got mine through Stethoscope.com but there are other sites to look into because some sites have better deals. Hope this helps!

We heard of the hoops, lions, tigers and bears encountered with previous cohorts during the pandemic ? we start in about 2 weeks! What cohort are you in or have you graduated? Any tips or things that we should get a head start on?

OMG thank you this was so incredibly helpful thanks for taking the time to write this all! I’m soooo hoping orientation is in person now. Thanks for the heads up on the stethoscope. Some nursing courses get the Littman so I wasn’t sure if national did the same. You would think we would get the Littman tho With all the money we pay but hey thats OK.
I almost bought one on amazon. How I wonder how ppl can tell whether theyre fake or not? That’s crazy.
thank you again for all the info!!

Of course, no problem! I hope so for your cohort as well, but there still is no word about returning to in person learning. I have heard that previous cohorts are going in for lab though. Funny story about the Littman stethoscope. My friend told me someone at the end of orientation asked if we needed to get our own stethoscope and Sean, the director of the RB campus, said that we are given a Littman. Older cohorts said he has no idea what Littman is and just says that because that's the most popular brand and they actually give you something on par with something you buy at a Dollar Tree ? if we do end up getting one, I'll let you know, but I agree with you. National has steep prices. For example, orientation fee is $250. The first payment you'll make tuition wise is $8160, because it includes additional fees. It'll be okay though, the investment in education now will pay off once we become nurses!
Based on the reviews I saw, the packaging is slightly off and the quality of the material is not good. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely heard of people buying their stethoscope from Amazon and it was completely brand new and real. I just wouldn't want to put that to chance and cause an inconvenience, especially since it's not a cheap purchase.

I plan on applying to cohort 67. Only studied for 2 days for TEAS for the first try. Plan on getting a lot more study time in and re-taking it. So much stress and pressure! Ugh!
GPA: 4.0 and TEAS: 81.3
DID YOU GET ACCEPTED IN COHORT 67?

Thank you so much .
Hello! I got into cohort 68 and was wondering if anyone could share their experience in the program so far? What do you like? What don’t you like? Any tips and suggestions? Also- do any of you work while in the program? If so, how many hours a week would you say is do able? Just trying to gauge if working (part time) is realistic or not. Thanks so much!
