Roll call, who's applying to NU San Diego Cohort 54?
I started my journey 6 months ago. Completing Microbiology this month, then TEAS prep and proctored essay practice. GPA will likely between 3.4-3.7 so going to work hard for a strong TEAS result. Would love to start to get to know some of our fellow future nurses.
I think 10 slots of the 50 are reserved for those on the waitlist from 53.
TEAS and essay dates are usually sent out ~2 weeks after application, with dates mid-Nov.
Core sciences GPA 40%
TEAS 40%
Proctored essay 20%
Good luck to all and looking forward to meeting many of you. I'm sitting in National's library right now studying for the TEAS.
Hi everyone! I just received my test date for the essay and TEAS.
I was just wondering if anyone is using the provided tutors to prepare for the essay. And does anyone know if it's the typical 5 paragraph format? As in thesis statement with 3 supporting paragraphs etc.
Thanks! Good luck studying!

Hi! Yes, you would use the typical essay format. The topics vary. When I took my essay mine was something along the lines of "what characteristics, experiences, beliefs, skills etc. do you possess that would help you in the field of nursing". Another person in the room got something like, "name a personal experience in your life that shaped you into the person that you are today". I don't remember the actual wording of the questions of course but you get the idea.
I think I write really well and felt really good about my essay after finishing it but I ended up getting 3/5. I don't know exactly what they're looking for. I would recommend a tutor/workshop if essay writing isn't your best skill.

Just received a follow up e-mail stating that all spots for Cohort 53 have been filled up so, as an alternate, I will joining this Cohort in the Spring. I'm curious to know how many available spots will be given to alternates from previous Cohorts and the rest to new applicants? Also, how many are entering as Generic vs Accelerated PB? I am in the latter group so I'm not sure how that works?
