National University(BSN) Vs. Cypress College (ASN)

U.S.A. California

I am a fortunate one to have priority acceptance two both of these programs.

My issue is should i go for the BSN at a second rate school or go for the ASN at one of the best ASN schools in the area.

My ultimate goal is to have BSN. I am veteran and fortunately the programs are free of cost. I want to go for the ASN and then switch over to a BSN because i feel the school is more reputable. Whats your opinion???

In my opinion, if your ultimate goal is to have your BSN, you should go straight for National University. That way you can be done and have your BSN and start working as an RN without having to go back to school. I would tell you to go to Cypress College if cost was an issue, but it's not. Also, how long is the National University program? Is it 2, 3, or 4 years? You should also take that into consideration.

Congrats on getting into both schools!! :)

It is 4 semesters for cypress and roughly 22 months straight for National University. I'm just scared that hospitals will look down at me for having a BSN from National University.

Moved to California Nursing Progams.

I'm currently at Cypress and am on break between semesters. I love the program it is top notch! The instructors are amazing I am learning so much and the hospitals that we do clinicals at love Cypress grads. That being said I want to go on to BSN and having that is such an asset. There are many hospitals that will not hire without it. I would look at their NCLEX pass rating just to be sure.

I think you should stay with national university since what you want is a BSN. I don't know why you would think of it as second rate, it has all of its accreditations....from WASC, california board of registered nursing, CCNE, if anything you'll have a higher chance at a job with BSN from there than just an ADN.
