What is everyone's opinion about NAU nursing program? I am unsure if I chose to further my education later if I could with their credits. I know it's $30-40,000 and I'd have to pay about $10-11,000 out of pocket for it. Or I can go to the community college also paying out of pocket but the program is $15,000 all together approximately.. Just looking for opinions.

Hey Amber, I attended NAU for a couple of semesters I completed A&P I and II with NAU. I decided not to apply for their nursing program because I could not justify the tuition. Once you're accepted into the nursing program the cost is over $400 a credit hour. I spoke with financial aid a few times and discovered I would have to pay at $2000 out of pocket because even with pell grants and loans it still wouldn't be enough to cover the cost of tuition. Another thing that turned me off is the clinicals are sometimes located 2-3 hours outside of Kansas City so some of the nursing students have to share the cost of a hotel. After speaking with financial aid I also discovered I would not have enough money to complete the bsn program at NAU or any where for that matter. On a positive note the class sizes are small and classes are only one day a week. I decided to hold out for MCCKC. Do you have a cna's license?

eta: my credits from nau transferred to mcckc and a few other schools I applied for

I didn't know that about clinicals. I can't do that, I still have a job too. Thank you for the info :)

You're welcome, That was the ultimate deciding factor for me too. Zona Rosa is already a bit of a drive for me so clinicals that far out is a big no plus I thought about the winter months.

Yeah for sure, they never mentioned they could be that far. That's crazy, wonder why they can't get them around here.

I have no idea why I never received a direct answer from anyone
